By day's end, Jo was feeling better. I just got off the phone with Matt. He is heading back to work tonight. I know he goes back with mixed emotions but he'll pick right back up where he left off. He's a valued member of the ER team. Patients and staff are all served so well by Matt and I am sure they are glad to see him again.
Alissa is by Josie's side at the hospital tonight and tomorrow they will come home! Looks like Josie will be in her own home with her family for almost 2 weeks which is such a relief. Sam and Josh miss her and I'm comforted by the thought of them all being together again. Jo will have some "radiation prep" appointments but nothing major for this next stretch of time.
Matt also let me know that Jo qualified for another study, meaning she's elligible for another type of experimental treatment. This study, a Pittsburgh study, has shown positive results thus far in treating this type of brain cancer in children. And this treatment is not as hard on the patient as chemotherapy. Matt spoke of this news with encouragement and hope in his voice.
We all need more hope, more faith, and more positivity. And we need to send this energy to this entire family. Jo is going to beat this. There will be a cure for this terrible disease, why can't it start with our Josie?
