Josie is doing really well with treatment, and the doctors continue to lower her steroid dosage. That is huge win, because the steroids have really caused some difficult side effects for Jo. There will be two more steroid dose drops coming up in the next few weeks, and that is great news. Alissa said that Josie is a phenomenal patient and is having an easy time so far with the radiation and even the chemo...what a brave super-star she is!
Easter was a big hit and I am including a photo from Josie's egg hunt. The weather was beautiful and Josie found her green eggs in no time. She ate a few Hershey's kisses and followed them with some green jelly beans as she sat on my lap in the sun. Did you ever get a lime-chocolate flavored kiss? I did and it was so sweet.
Another highlight of the holiday weekend was making Holy bread with pastor Caitlin. Jo has been asking to partake in communion, and Caitlin suggested that Josie and Sam make their own Holy bread for a private homemade Easter communion. What a special day this was for Jo. She was ecstatic...cooking and enjoying family and the amazing Caitlin! Alissa said Jo was engergized by the process, chatting away and getting all messy with ingredients.
Uncle Todd crushed the Boston marathon in a personal best time of 2 hours and 47 minutes...phenomenal! He had a special lady in his heart to keep him company and give him strength during the grueling race, her name embroidered on his favorite hat.
Josie you continue to inspire us all to be our best! I've seen great personal changes in everyone who knows and loves Josie! If Jo can stand up and fight her cancer with so much courage, than we as supporters of Jo need to conquer our biggest challenges with her bravery as our source of inspiration. Do something great today. Change something you've been meaning to change. Reach out to someone and show them the love you've been holding back. Do it for Josie!
We all love you Jo with all of our hearts and we are so proud of you and your family! We are proud to know, love, and support you! XOXO
