Jo was a bit tired but sweet and brave and beautiful as always. Aunt Rene and I got some extra snuggle time from Jo since she was beat, and we cherished every minute of it! She sat on Aunt Rene's lap all though dinner and then snuggled with me on the couch afterwards. When I had a chance, I would whisper in her ear and tell her how beautiful she is, how much I love her, and how she's a complete superstar. I could feel her cheeks move against my chest when she smiled and I would just nuzzle my nose into her strawberry blond hair and breathe in.
I had some quiet time to listen to Alissa and Matt talk about everything that has been happening recently. About the good moments and the bad, and their roller coaster of emotions. They are both so grateful for the support shown by so many friends and family members. They are appreciative of every thoughtful gesture and kind word.
It has been my honor and privilege to write this blog. It's helped me to become a better listener and a more intentional brother, uncle, father, and husband. Listening is good medicine, a balm so easy to apply. So is nuzzling your nose into the hair of a child, breathing in, and giving a kiss. Try it right now if your child is nearby. Pure heaven.
