"Our girl is back! Full of energy, giggles, smiles, and sweetness.
Her steroids are only every other day now. No more crazy appetite, awful mood swings, or panic attacks. She is super happy and affectionate. Matt woke up the other day and she snuggled, hugged, and kissed him for about a half hour.
She has been on a roll with cooking! Some days I feel like we are in the kitchen all day. When Jo, Sam, and Josh wake up, Sam and Josh head to the one room to watch cartoons. Jo right away asks for a quiet place where she can read her Giada cookbooks. She picks recipes and asks me to read every ingredient and step. We have a endless list of yummy things to make. Some of her latest dishes- homemade pesto and tomato tart, turkey meatloaf with feta and sundried tomatoes, taco salad, white bean chicken chili, 3 bean salad, fruit salad, and a tie-dye cake.
If I do not have ingredients for an actual recipe, then we raid the pantry and she makes a concoction. Yesterday it was a pretend chocolate and banana cake. She begged me teach her how to use a big sharp knife like Giada. So she got her first "chopping" lesson and meticulously and carefully cut her banana into tidbits.
We feel in a good place right now. I want time to stand still. Looking at her now I
almost don't believe what we have been told. I am feeling positive and feel in my
heart that Jo will beat the odds."
I just keep reading your words over and over Alissa. We had such a fun Memorial weekend Sunday with you and your family...and I agree, Josie is beating the odds. Sounds like we may have a world class chef on our hands when she grows up! Love you Josie, you are amazing.
